Like I said in my last post, I am joining up with some awesome teacher bloggers and doing a Daily 5 Book Study! We will host a linky party for each chapter that is geared towards a different chapter in the book:
Chapter 1: Introduction
Chapter 2: From "Management" to "Principled Habits"
Chapter 3: What's the Difference?
Chapter 4: Read to Self
Chapter 5: Read to Someone and Listening to Reading
Chapter 6: Work on Writing and Word Work
Chapter 7: Putting It All together and Troubleshooting
I created this bookmark to help you follow along with us during the Book Study. Head on over to my TpT store and grab your free copy! It includes dates, chapter titles, and who is hosting. We have 2-3 bloggers hosting each chapter, so it should be fun!
Here is my bookmark, printed, cut out, glued onto scrapbook paper, laminated on my new laminator , decorated with ribbon, and ready to go! :) I made two, to show you how it is double sided. i plan to give one to a colleague at work who is moving from 5th to 1st and wants some new ideas on how D5 works in primary.
Mel D also posted a freebie for you to use to take notes while reading along.
So go grab a copy of the book, hard copy or Kindle, and get started to chat with Mel D and me about Chapter 1: Introduction!
Thanks so much Nicole! Looking forward to joining in:)

What a great book! Gotta love kids spending their time reading and writing instead of doing stuff about reading and writing. Enjoy!

We are frustrated with our inability to engage students in independent , meaningful reading practice. (p. 7) However, now that we have Daily 5 we begin to spend at least 20 days building our community, defining and practicing behaviors, building stamina and assessing the needs of this particular group of children.

DeleteI am so excited to join this book study! I did want to say that I was in a rush to get my Daily 5 book when I first ordered it at Winter break time, so I got it on my Kindle. I read it and loved it, but struggled to get started because I didn't have a hard copy that I could refer back to easily in my classroom. I ended up ordering a hard copy in March so that I could finally get started. You can order the Daily 5 and The CAFE book from amazon.com for about $30 and get Free Shipping. It is definitely worth it to have the hard copy in front of you!

Thanks for joining us!
DeleteHi! I just found your blog through The Teacher Wife's blog list and I'm glad I did... I'm your newest follower!! I read the Daily 5 last summer and fully intended on using it last year. It was my first year teaching and things just got crazy. I really want to try to implement it this year. I'm looping with my kiddo's, so I'm very confident they can handle it. I'm looking forward to reading most of your posts! :)
